"Dumex" received his military training and commission from the prestigious Royal Military Academy of Sandhurst, UK, and a First Class Honors in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College, University of London while on government scholarship. He later graduated from Flying Training School and received his Republic of Singapore Air Force pilot Wings in 1991. Dumex flew the F-5E as well as various Blocks of F-16s, including the Blk15, 42 and 52. He served a staff tour in Ops Planning, was Director of Operations in an F-16 Squadron based in the US, did his Air Command and Staff Course at Maxwell Air University, USA, and later commanded an F-16 Squadron. Subsequently, he was appointed Head Force Planning Branch, where he was key to the fighter evaluation program, which led him to fly the latest fighters then, such as the F-15E, F-18F, Rafale, Typhoon and the SU-30MK.

Since 2004, he has helmed Aerospace Consultancy, working with defense companies to bring great products and services to the RSAF.
